Research

Increasingly, policymakers in China have come to realise that government alone cannot adequately prevent or defray climate-related disaster risks; a combination of public and private regulation is therefore warranted. Regulation via insurance may help to reduce the risk of climate change and mitigate losses due to its regulatory function influencing policyholders’ behaviours. In other words, insurance could not only compensate the victims of climate hazards but also reduce climate-change risks.
