Title	Bridging Worlds: International Intervention and the Rule of Law in Asia’s Diverse Legal Narratives
Abstract	This abstract delves into the dynamic relationship between international intervention and the discourses of the Rule of Law (RoL) in Asia, focusing on the tensions and synergies between global legal standards and region-specific narratives of justice. In recent decades, international organizations and foreign entities have had a major influence on the legal systems of Asian nations, frequently promoting the integration of universal human rights standards, judicial independence, and democratic governance. However, the imposition of these frameworks frequently collides with Asia’s unique cultural, historical, and political contexts, leading to complex debates around sovereignty, legal pluralism, and justice. In many Asian countries, such as China, India, and Southeast Asian nations, the Rule of Law is often conceptualized differently from the Western liberal model. While international organizations emphasize legal equality and rights protection, local legal traditions shaped by Confucianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and colonial histories present alternative visions of law and governance. These differences complicate the implementation of global RoL standards, often leading to resistance, selective adoption, or reinterpretation of international norms to fit local frameworks. This abstract argues that international interventions need to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to Rule of Law. Instead, they should be attuned to the diversity of legal traditions and the lived realities of people in Asia. Rather than imposing external models, interventions can facilitate dialogue that respects local contexts while encouraging progressive reforms. By analyzing how international actors navigate Asia’s legal pluralism, this work highlights the need for more nuanced, collaborative strategies in promoting Rule of Law that bridges global aspirations with regional identities. This approach can offer a more sustainable and culturally sensitive path to justice in Asia’s complex legal ecosystem.
Biography	I, Smriti Tanvani am currently employed as an Assistant Professor at MIT World Peace University, Pune, India. I have academic work experience of 6 years. Additionally, I am enrolled as a Ph.D. Scholar at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar. My Ph.D. research is on ‘Cyber Security and Data Protection Laws in India, U.S and European Union’. My academic journey also includes an LL.M. in ‘Constitution and Administrative Law’ from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, and a B.Com & LL.B. from the University of Lucknow. In 2018, I successfully cleared the UGC-NET and began her academic career. Before joining the School of Law, MIT World Peace University Pune, I served as an Assistant Professor of Law at the School of Law, National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar(Institute of National Importance), Institute of Law, Nirma University Ahmedabad and School of Law, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus where I managed both academic and administrative responsibilities. My areas of interest include Cyber Security, Digital rights and Data Protection, Artificial Intelligence and Law and Women and Child rights. Additionally, I have presented papers at various international and national conferences and seminars.
