CBFL Exco Member Christian Hofmann gave a talk on Regulating non-bank financial intermediaries in Asia at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong on 21 September 2016 and University of Hong Kong on 22 September. He touched on the risks posed by growing volume of assets and transactions held and executed by non-banks (often referred to as 'other financial institutions' or OFIs for short) and discussed potential adequate responses to such risks.

The conference is hosted by the Asian Institute of International Financial Law of the University of Hong Kong and co-organised with the Centre for Financial Regulation and Economic Development of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, the Centre for Banking & Finance Law of the National University of Singapore and the Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia of Singapore Management University.

CBFL is proud to be a co-organiser of the Annual Conference of the Journal of the Financial Regulation, 2016. With "Integration and Interconnectedness in Global Finance" as its theme, the conference seeks to explore a broad range of topics such as emerging risks to financial stability stemming from increasing integration and interconnectedness, the evolving role of international financial institutions, the development, role and effectiveness of regional institutions, and more.
