Workshop on Current Issues in Commercial Law

17 January 1998

The workshop was held in conjunction with the launch of the Centre in 1998. Selected areas of commercial law were discussed. The paper on recent developments in the law relating to sale of goods dealt with the recent amendments to the Sale of Goods Act in Singapore. The paper on remedies of secured creditors focused on the non-judicial remedies and the debtor’s right of redemption. The paper on fiduciary obligations discussed the factual approach as well as the proportionality principle.

This was a half-day workshop on aspects of contract law of importance and interest to commercial law practitioners. Conference on Bankers’ Irrevocable Standby Credit
