Dai Yi obtained his LLM degree (with distinction) from the University of Birmingham, UK (2008) and earlier obtained his LLB degree from East China University of Politics & Law, Shanghai (2007). After working for Ang & Partners, Singapore and Clyde & Co of Shanghai as a Legal Assistant for two years, Dai Yi joined Wang Jing & Co, a leading PRC maritime law firm, as an Associate handling both dry and wet shipping matters (2011 onwards). He was made a partner of the firm in 2019. Dai Yi has research interests in marine insurance and charterparty. During his spare time, he provided assistance with the LMAA tribunal decisions to Professor Stephen Girvin in his writing of Carriage of Goods by Sea, 2nd edn (OUP, 2011).
