Dr Miriam Goldby is Reader in Shipping, Insurance and Commercial Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, Deputy Director of the Centre's Insurance Law Institute, Co-Academic Director of its Institute of Transnational Commercial Law and Director of its LLM in International Shipping Law. She is a member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) Standing Committee on Carriage of Goods and of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Commercial Law and Practice Committee. She participated in the Expert Group and Working Group meetings of UNCITRAL's WG-IV (Electronic Commerce) from 2012 to 2017, contributing to the drafting of the Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records. She is the author of Electronic Documents in Maritime Trade: Law and Practice (OUP), the second edition of which will be published in 2019. She has received research funding from the British Academy, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and Lloyd's of London and has contributed to research undertaken by the Bank of England and the English Law Commission.

Dr Goldby is in residence at CML from 21 March 2019 to 26 April 2019 as our Visiting Senior Research Fellow. She will be participating in our bi-monthly lunch seminar series and presenting a downtown short course, The Digital Transformation of International Trade, on 28 March 2019.
