Dr Gabriele Spina Ali Gabriele is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the EWBCLB and an IP Law enthusiast. He holds a PhD from the University of Hong Kong and a Master Degree from the University of Catania (Italy). His PhD dissertation focused on clinical trials protection in both multilateral and bilateral international treaties. Besides IP and pharmaceuticals, his research interests comprise copyright and trademark law, as well as the regulation of emerging technologies. Before joining the academic community, Gabriele collaborated with the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office. Research areas At EWBCLB, Gabriele will conduct research on Trademark Law, Morality and Religion. His comparative analysis will be aimed at understanding how courts and TM examiners in different jurisdictions deal with the registration of religious signs, with a special focus on religions practiced by minorities. His research will also extend to the relationships between morality bars to TM registration, free speech and religious freedom. |
