Ayesha Kalpani WIJAYALATH Ayesha Wijayalath is a Research Associate at the Centre for Asian Legal Studies (CALS) and an Associate Editor of the Asian Journal of Comparative Law. Ayesha graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in July 2017 with an LLM specializing in International and Comparative Law. Prior to her LLM, she was a Research Assistant at the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS), NUS and conducted research on Sri Lanka's constitutional reforms, human rights and transitional justice which were published as ISAS papers. She also presented her paper on "The Executive President, 19th Amendment and Sri Lanka's Constitutional Democracy" at the 6th Asian Constitutional Law Forum, NUS- 2015 and at the Academic International Conference on Interdisciplinary Legal Studies, Green Templeton College, University of Oxford-2016. She is also an Attorney-at-Law from Sri Lanka and appeared in Fundamental Rights cases and Civil Appeals in the superior courts of Sri Lanka. She completed her apprenticeship at the Attorney General's Department, Sri Lanka and was involved in landmark cases relating to constitutional and administrative law. She was also the President of the Moot Club-Sri Lanka Law College and represented Sri Lanka Law College in international moot competitions. She is the recipient of the Bunty De Soysa Memorial Gold Medal for the Best Mooter in 2011. She also holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and a BA in French from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Ayesha takes a keen interest in comparative constitutional law, democracy and rule of law, human rights, international humanitarian law and transitional justice.
