Centre for Banking & Finance Law

About CBFL

The Centre for Banking & Finance Law (CBFL) at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, seeks to generate scholarship and promote thinking about the vibrancy, robustness and soundness of the banking sector, capital markets and other financial services. Through the research our scholars undertake and the events we organise, we seek to create and share knowledge, to engage stakeholders in an exchange of ideas, and to enhance the appreciation of legal and regulatory issues. We aim to bring greater theoretical and analytical clarity to these issues, to examine their policy impact, and to be a catalyst for ideas on how to improve banking and financial systems at the national, regional and global levels.

CBFL is pleased to share that a special feature edited by Lin Lin and Dora has just been published in the Singapore Journal of Legal Studies.

This issue, which arose from the conference on “Alternative Investments in the Tech Era”, convened by Lin Lin under the auspices of the Centre for Banking & Finance Law (CBFL), has lined up a series of articles that shed light on the changes and risks brought about by technology, and put forth suggestions regarding appropriate responses. This issue brings together leading academics from the EU, Australia, Singapore, mainland China, and Hong Kong for an in-depth discussion on cutting-edge topics. Contributions include the lead article on the changing concept of money by Emilios Avgouleas and Sir William Blair, and other articles on data trusts, TechRisk, InsurTech, robo-advisers, blockchain and equity crowdfunding. Further details are available here.
