Alban KANG

Managing Partner

Alban is the Managing Partner of ATMD Bird & Bird LLP. He has been in legal practice for 30 years, primarily in the area of Intellectual Property law. He is regularly engaged in complex patent litigation and other contentious IP-related cases, and has also been involved in a number of high profile IP cases before the Singapore Court of Appeal. Alban is one of the founding partners of ATMD Bird & Bird in Singapore. He has written and presented many articles and papers in the spectrum of IP law. He is the author of the book Enforcing Injunctions, co-contributor of Essays on Computer Law, and general editor of A Guide to Singapore Patent Law. He has also authored the Patents section of the Halsbury Law of Singapore, and the Singapore chapter on Patent Claim Interpretation. Alban has been consistently ranked as a leading intellectual property lawyer by the Asia Pacific Legal 500 and the Chambers Asia-Pacific editions and other legal directories.

Stanley Lai, SC is the Head of the Intellectual Property practice at Allen and Gledhill LLP. Stanley specializes in all forms of IP litigation and information technology disputes, and is also a commercial litigator. Stanley and his practice have achieved the highest rankings, together with many accolades in many international directories. Stanley is currently the Chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre IP Panel and Singapore Copyright Tribunal, and he also serves as a director of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (SGX-Listed). He has published extensively on IP and information technology law, including the monograph entitled "The Copyright Protection of Computer Software in the United Kingdom". Stanley has also taught intellectual property law in National University of Singapore for more than 15 years, and he currently holds the appointment of Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculties of Law and Engineering. He serves as a Principal Mediator of the Singapore Mediation Centre. Stanley was called to the Singapore Bar in 1995 before commencing his PhD research in the field of technology law and computer software copyright, and became the first Singapore-born lawyer to be conferred a PhD in Law from the University of Cambridge. In January 2010, Stanley was appointed Senior Counsel.



Ai Ming LEE

Lee Ai Ming is a senior partner in the law firm of Rodyk & Davidson LLP and heads the firm's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. Apart from her legal practice, she is active in numerous forums in Singapore that promote innovation and IP capability building. She is a member of the Singapore Copyright Tribunal. She has also served in leadership roles in various international IP associations such as the International Trademarks Association and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association. Ai Ming also sits on the boards of the Agri-Veterinary Board of Singapore (AVA), Keppel Land Limited and HTL Holdings Ltd as an independent director.

Mark joined the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore ("IPOS") in 2010. Prior to joining IPOS, Mark was a lawyer in private practice for 15 years. At his last firm, a medium-sized law firm in Singapore, he established and headed the IP, Media & Entertainment Department. Mark's work encompassed all areas of intellectual property ("IP") law, including both contentious as well as non-contentious IP matters. Mark was the Vice-Chairman for the Singapore Law Society's IP Committee for several years until he joined IPOS. He has published many articles in both local and international journals, including the Singapore Academy of Law Journal, European Intellectual Property Review, Journal of International Arbitration, Copyright World and Trademark World. He is also a co-author of the volume on IP in Halsbury's Laws of Singapore. He has been recognized as a leading IP lawyer in a number of international publications.



Wee Loon NG-LOY

NG-LOY Wee Loon is a Professor at the NUS Law School. Her main research interests lie in the field of Intellectual Property (IP) Law. At the NUS Law School, she teaches the Law of IP which focuses on Singapore's regime, as well as international IP modules (International Trademark Law and Policy; International Copyright Law and Policy). Outside of the university, her involvement in the legal scene includes the following: member of the Resource Panel for Government Parliamentary Committee for Law and Home Affairs (1999-2000); member of the Board of Directors of Singapore's IP office (2000-2001); member of the Board of Governors of the IP Academy, Singapore (2007-2011); member of the Copyright Tribunal (since 2009); amicus curiae to the Court of Appeal (2013); member of the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy Panel (2014).



Burton ONG

Burton Ong (DPhil / B.C.L (Oxon), LL.M (Harv), LL.B (NUS)) is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore where he teaches and researches in the areas of Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and Contract Law. He is a Director at the NUS Centre for Law & Business (CLB) and Deputy Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law (APCEL). He is a Fellow of the IP Academy where he has taught, examined and directed its flagship Graduate Certificate in IP programme for more than a decade. His research interests in the realm of IP are quite eclectic - including patent law and biological resources, the legal protection of well-known trademarks, copyright and moral rights and, more generally, the intersection between intellectual property and competition law.



Tee Jim TAN , S.C.

Tan Tee Jim, SC is a Senior Partner in Lee & Lee. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1980 and was appointed a Senior Counsel (a prestigious appointment which is equivalent to Queen's Counsel in the UK) in 1999. He has advised and counselled numerous clients and appeared in numerous IP court cases. He has also written extensively on IP issues and is the author of the book "Law of Trade Marks and Passing Off in Singapore". He is also a regular speaker at local and international conferences. Tan Tee Jim, SC has been regularly cited as a leading lawyer in Singapore and Asia by various legal publications. He has been described as "brilliant" and an "iconic figure" in patent litigation in The World's Leading Patent Practitioners 2013.



Daren TANG

Deputy Chief Executive, Registries Cluster

Daren Tang is Deputy Chief Executive at the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), where he oversees the Registries Cluster. The Registries Cluster is the regulatory arm of IPOS, and is responsible for the development of Singapore's IP infrastructure in relation to various types of IPR such as trademarks, patents, designs and copyrights. The Cluster's responsibilities also extend to representing Singapore at international IP negotiations in a variety of settings, including WIPO, ASEAN and bilateral Free Trade Agreements. Daren is currently chairing the IP negotiations in both the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreements. Prior to being with IPOS, he was a Senior State Counsel with the International Affairs Division of the Attorney-General's Chambers. Daren holds an LL.B (Hons) from the National University of Singapore, and an LL.M from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was also a Fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law.



Tony YEO

Tony is a Director in Drew & Napier's Dispute Resolution Department and heads the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice. Tony is a litigator with an active court practice as an advocate. He has acted as lead counsel in many complex matters, including numerous patent infringement cases. He is experienced in intellectual property litigation and enforcement including patent, trademark, and copyright litigation. His civil and commercial litigation practice includes banking litigation and contract disputes. Woon Chooi YEW

Yew Woon Chooi is a Partner in Rodyk & Davidson's Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group. Woon Chooi's areas of practice include Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Commercial Law.
