Kathmandu University School of Law (KUSOL) is the seventh School in the Kathmandu University System. Kathmandu University is one of the leading universities in Nepal. It is based in Dhulikhel Municipality of Kavrepalanchok District, Bagmati Province, Nepal. KUSOL was established in December 2013 with the goal to prepare students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and leaders, with the flexibility to respond to changes in the legal profession. To that end, KUSOL blends practical skills training with legal theory throughout the curriculum as it strives for excellence in both teaching and scholarship. The KUSOL’s mission is to produce a diverse group of law graduates with the skill, judgment, and moral compass to become exceptional lawyers and legal professionals, as well as socially responsible members of the global community. Since its inception, the prime focus of KUSOL has been to design and offer competitive and unique courses which reflect the need of time in the Nepalese market. KUSOL is the only institution in Nepal to offer an integrated program of Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Laws (BBM, LL.B) and Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws (BEc., LL.B). These programs were initiated and run to produce competitive lawyers in Nepal who are familiar with inter-disciplinary aspects such as business management and economics, considering the growing demand in the Nepalese market for such legal manpower who also possess skill sets in these areas. KUSOL aims at delivering teaching and learning programs that are based on leading modern textbooks and informed by current research; are attractive to students from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and which deliver skills for life. The students are being taught by accomplished and diverse faculty members including those who practiced law or worked with the justice sector and judiciary before teaching. They are experts in a wide range of legal areas -- from litigation to constitutional law, corporate law to criminal law, property development to public interest law, environmental law to business law, international law to intellectual property law - and much more. KUSOL has a policy of special commitment to the rule of law and the protection of public interest based on the Constitution of Nepal, 2015. It also intends to establish a tradition of engaging with business and the community through activities such as public lectures and services to the community, to help businesses and organizations in the region develop higher skill levels through training, and to stimulate growth and innovation through partnership with other institutions outside the University System. From its inception, Kathmandu University and the School of Law have had an international perspective to their academic activities and outlook.

KUSOL has also started a specialized Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program in Energy and Infrastructure Law starting from March 2023. The LL.M. degree is given to the law graduates while the Master in Energy and Infrastructure Law (MEIL) degree is given to eligible non-law graduates.
