Law and Aesthetics
Last Updated Date:   30 August 2023

4 Units,  Semester 2

Course Description:
This course aims to explore the multiple relations between law and aesthetics. It builds law as a cultural product that creates its own layer of meaning in the social world and does that through clear aesthetic media. It explores how law’s ideals and workings can be engaged and experienced aesthetically through such media. These include, among others, visual arts, comics, movies, performances. This interrelationship between law and aesthetics reveals then the intrinsically ideological nature of the legal phenomenon and the need to decipher the different mythologies that make of law, lawyers, and legal theory neutral and impartial actors and practices.
