Recalibrating Multilateral Trading Regime

Course Description:
This course aims to provide the students with an opportunity to assess the current global trade regime, mainly enshrined in the WTO Agreements and FTAs, from a critical perspective. Students are expected to understand the success and failures of the existing trade regime and the reasons behind the current struggles. This course will examine key disputes that have led to continuing confrontation among states. It will also examine new norms emerging in trade agreements such as labour, environment, competition, SOEs and digital trade. Through this course, the students together with the instructor will explore possible avenues to revitalize multilateralism.
