4 Units,  Semester 1

Course Description:
Laws and regulations must contend with increasingly complex and fast-moving advances in technology. This course equips law students with the basic technical knowledge necessary to appreciate the interface between technology and law and the use of technology in the law. Through a series of simple basic Python coding exercises and hands-on design-thinking projects, students will also be exposed to elements of programming and their use as well as their limitations. We will also illustrate the issues with a review of the law as applied to artificial intelligence. Students completing this course will have a better appreciation of the regulatory issues associated with technology that are increasingly posing legal and ethical challenges for lawyers, regulators, and judges.
