The Pro Bono Family Law Litigation Clinic

Course Description:
Legal aid aims to ensure that all member of society have access to justice, regardless of their financial means.
This clinic provides students with a unique experiential learning opportunity. Students will assist an experienced legal practitioner with a Legal Aid Bureau case. Cases will relate to family law matters, and may cover issues relating to divorce, child maintenance, estate division and mental capacity.
Under guided mentorship, students will experience a meaningful learning journey that will allow them to gain professional practice skills, substantive knowledge in the area of family law, and refine their research, analysis, and drafting skills.
This course is offered through the year in tranches, including during university vacation.

Preclusions: Students who have been in practice as qualified lawyers in the local or other jurisdictions are precluded.
Prerequisites: NUS Compulsory Core Law Curriculum or common law equivalent.
NUS Legal Skills Programme or equivalent, in particular, Legal Analysis, Research and Communication or its equivalent. Singapore Legal System or its equivalent.
Examination Date: 100% Continuous Assessment
