Singapore Legal History

Course Description:
This course provides students with a broad overview of Singapore’s legal history, including its historical common law origins and the evolution of its key institutions and traditions. Topics covered include the historical development of Singapore’s sources of law; the Singapore Constitution; judicial system; legal profession, legal service; legal education; criminal law; land law and law reporting. Assessment will be by way of a research paper on a selected topic to be submitted at the end of the course.
