History of ASLI Conference ASLI organises annual academic conferences hosted by its founding member institutions on a rotating basis. These conferences examine contemporary legal issues of interest to Asian countries and gather scholars and experts from the member institutions as well as from Asia and beyond. The inaugural conference was held on 27th and 28th May 2004 hosted by the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, following which the annual conferences were held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (2005); East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai (2006); University of Indonesia in Jakarta (2007); National University of Singapore (2008); University of Hong Kong (2009); International Islamic University of Malaysia (2010). ASLI welcomes academics and intellectuals from within and outside Asia to attend and present papers at its annual conference. The conference is open to all, whether or not they present a paper. Indeed, we encourage individuals to use the conference as a meeting place for scholars interested in Asia-related legal issues to come together and exchange ideas as well as to form close working and personal relationships. Kyushu University will host the eighth ASLI Conference on Thursday and Friday, 26th and 27th May 2011. List of Past Conferences
