ASLI organises annual academic conferences hosted by its founding member institutions on a rotating basis. These conferences examine contemporary legal issues of interest to Asian countries and gather scholars and experts from the member institutions as well as from Asia and beyond.

The inaugural conference was held on 27^th and 28^>th May 2004 hosted by the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, following which the annual conferences were held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (2005); East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai (2006); University of Indonesia in Jakarta (2007); National University of Singapore (2008) and University of Hong Kong (2009).

ASLI welcomes academics and public intellectuals from within and outside Asia to attend and present papers at its annual conference. The conference is open to all, whether or not they present a paper. Indeed, we encourage individuals to use the conference as a meeting place for scholars interested in Asia-related legal issues to come together and exchange ideas as well as to form close working and personal relationships.

The International Islamic University of Malaysia will host the seventh ASLI Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, 25^th and 26^th May 2010.
