Call For Papers Introduction We are pleased to announce that the Asian Law Institute (ASLI) and the National Law School of India University will hold the 10th Annual ASLI Conference in India on 23rd & 24th May 2013. We look forward to welcoming you, and value your contribution to the ongoing success of this annual conference. The 10th ASLI Conference 2013 The purpose of the annual conference is to bring together scholars of Asian law from within and outside Asia to interact, share ideas and build collegial networks which may facilitate dialogue and research collaborations. In addition to the paper presentations and Distinguished Lecture, there will be a Research Forum and Poster Presentation. We hope that the research forum will be widely used to bring together collaborators in various projects. Presenters and non-presenters are encouraged to connect with fellow academics before the conference and to start thinking about potential research projects. The conference format remains broadly the same as last year: there will be five rounds of six parallel sessions over two days. The broad theme of the 2013 conference is Celebrating Diversity: 10 Years of ASLI. Within the conference theme, we will, as far as possible, group papers within broad subject areas, and will allocate the panels for each parallel session on this basis. Examples of subject areas which have been represented in previous conferences include Human Rights, Children and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Competition Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Legal Pluralism, Religious Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Women and Law, Maritime Law, Corporate Law and Governance, International Business Law, Labour and Employment Law, Law and Economics, WTO Law and Law and Society. However, we welcome papers on all topics, and the ‘Miscellaneous’ category means that it is not necessary for a paper to fit within any specific subject area in order to be accepted. Call for papers There will be four papers per panel to give presenters and discussants adequate time for fruitful engagement. In preparing abstracts of their proposed papers, we encourage prospective participants to address the conference theme. In addition to the general call for individual papers, we also encourage individuals to organize their own panels by coordinating with colleagues, preferably from other ASLI institutions. This will allow for the panels to be more cohesive and will also foster greater collaboration between academics, which is one of the key aims of ASLI. Selection criteria for papers The papers accepted for presentation at the ASLI conference will be selected on a competitive selection process. The quality of papers has improved considerably in recent years and, equally importantly, the quality of discussion surrounding the papers has also been elevated. For this year’s conference, we intend to select 120 papers for presentation at the parallel sessions, as well as 10 posters. The selection will be done jointly by the ASLI Secretariat and NLSIU. The selection criteria will be as follows:

Submissions for pre-arranged panels Where a group of presenters wishes to form a panel, the panel organiser should coordinate with the other speakers and take responsibility for that panel, and ensure that all details are provided with the consent of the other speakers.
