ASLI Conference ASLI organises an annual academic conference held by its founding member institutions on a rotating basis. These conferences examine contemporary legal issues of interest to Asian jurisdictions and gather scholars and experts from the member institutions as well as from Asia and beyond. The inaugural conference, hosted by the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law, was held on 27 and 28 May 2004. In subsequent years, the annual conferences have been held at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok (2005); East China University of Politics and Law, Shanghai (2006); University of Indonesia, Jakarta (2007); National University of Singapore (2008); University of Hong Kong (2009); International Islamic University of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (2010); Kyushu University, Fukuoka (2011); National University of Singapore (2012); National Law School of India University, Bangalore (2013); University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur (2014); National Taiwan University, Taipei (2015); Peking University Law School (2016); University of Philippines, College of Law, Manilla (2017); Seoul National University, School of Law (2018), National University of Singapore Faculty of Law (2019), National Law University, Delhi (2020) and Universitas Pelita Harapn (2021). ASLI welcomes academics and intellectuals from within and outside Asia to present papers. The conference is also open to all who would want to attend without presenting a paper. We encourage individuals to use the conference as a meeting place for scholars interested in Asia-related legal issues to come together and exchange ideas, as well as to form close working and personal relationships.
